Telling Better Stories to our Donors

One of the trickiest things about fundraising is knowing what kind of story to tell about your organization.

We often get so excited to talk about what we do and how we do it, we don’t talk about why.
Here’s an example:
When I was at Habitat for Humanity, I could talk a lot about our homes. How many we built in a given city, how many volunteers supported the construction, what our land acquisition process looks like, etc.
But the real magic is in the why. Why does Habitat place affordable homeownership at the heart of its mission? Why is housing and home ownership so important?
It’s a subtle change, but it makes a difference. It moves our conversations with donors away from the tasks we’re performing to the causes we’re fighting for.
And those conversations lead to insight around values, vision, involvement and generosity.
If you’re ready to have better conversations with your donors, let’s set up a free discovery call and get started!
