Seems Too Good to be True

I knew it was too good to be true.

The box promised a simple set up. Download the app, plug in the device and then - BAM - the wi-fi that my business and general happiness relies on would be live and ready to go.

Instead of the easy install, I got a variety of error messages, a non-responsive app, and unhelpful help menus.

Once I made the call to the help desk, it was a breezy 45 minutes of account verification, text messages, and trial-and-error before the system came to life.

Tech problems are not unique - and in the grand scheme of things, a 45 minute call isn't too big of an investment for something that I'll literally use every day.

But when the promise is "instant" any delay seems frustrating. And no matter how many times I've learned this particular lesson, the appeal of a quick, one-stop solution to a problem can be hard to resist.

So, when that consultant, board member, or vendor suggests a quick / easy / simple way to raise funds for your organization ... or a shortcut to the actual work of calling donors, building relationships, and inviting people to join your cause and mission .... take a closer look.

Are you ready to start working on your fundraising plans? Let's talk...
