I Saw This and I Thought of You

The difference between a thoughtful recommendation and a generic one is the difference between an email from a friend and an unsolicited invitation to join a MLM scheme.

When someone makes a personalized, thoughtful, and specific recommendation to us – when they effectively say that “I saw this and I thought of you,” we feel seen. And we’re more likely to take that recommendation to heart.

This spirit – the idea of personally recommending or inviting people to join us in something we love – is at the heart of nonprofit board giving.
