I've made a lot of mistakes in my fundraising career.
One of the first ones was believing that the most important skill in fundraising was finding rich people.
In other words, I thought that my job as a fundraiser was to go out, find rich people, and ask them for money.
But a focus on capacity ignores relationships, values, and propensity - and assumes that donors have to have wealth and wealth alone.
Have you made this mistake too?
If you want help telling your boards and bosses how capacity does not equal propensity, let's set up a time to talk!
